On April 14, 2014, National Public Radio (NPR) aired an episode of Fresh Air featuring an interview with Martin Blaser, MD, the author of a book titled Missing Microbes: How the Overuse of Antibiotics is Fueling our Modern Plagues. It is refreshing to see more information of this type being published! This is a great interview, and a nice primer on why antibiotics are a problem. Dr. Blaser introduces the microbiome, that trillion-member bacterial colony of bacteria that is a functional member of the human body. These are the symbiont organisms I am writing about in The Symbiont Factor! It is exciting to see microbiome/symbiont awareness increasing as I near publication with my own book. Please take a moment to visit the link below-you can download or listen to the audio of the interview, or download and read the full transcript as well. It is a great interview, and I look forward to reading Dr. Blaser’s book. He makes some of the same points that I do, based on the same research studies. Dr. Blaser’s book has added support to some of the core concepts underpinning my own book. The Symbiont Factor also reviews other factors that affect the microbiome, as well as other conditions that an imbalanced microbiome causes or contributes to. It is on track to be published by 15 June 2014. Heres a link to the NPR interview with Dr. Blaser:
